Automist

Automist® is a simple, fire protection innovation which provides a sprinkler-alternative for full room activation fire protection.  Perhaps you are a home owner looking for peace of mind from kitchen fires, a fire inspector trying to prevent the risk of a flashover on an escape route or a developer with design flexibility for open plan spaces in new builds, refurbishments or loft conversions?  Automist® focuses on seamless integration, ease of retrofit and whole-room protection.  It is a water-mist device, automatically and reliably triggered by a standard heat alarm to provide life and property protection.

In the event of a fire, the system is triggered automatically by a heat alarm or a fire panel, the output under-sink pump drives mains water through the unique nozzle unit, quickly filling the room with a dense fog.  Water mist removes heat and displaces oxygen from the fire zone, resulting in fire control, suppression or extinguishing of the fire.  Heat detection is recommended for kitchens and effectively eliminates nuisance activation.  Automist® can be stopped manually by pressing a button on its control panel.  Automist® uses much less water than a traditional sprinkler system, water damage in the event activation is minimumised.

Adding water to a kitchen chip pan fire can make an already bad situation much worse, the same is not true for water mist, as the up draught from the flame and the evaporation of the tiny droplets prevents water from reaching and collecting in the pan.
